A successful charity auction supported by Hong Kong Tatler raised almost HK$480,000 for underprivileged children
Recently, the Living Hope Foundation, a charity aimed at supporting and raising awareness of underprivileged children, staged a dinner celebration and auction at Central Plaza’s Apex. Items such as paintings, watches, jewellery and a holiday stay kindly donated by friends, plus a wine cellar donated by Edipresse and Hong Kong Tatler, all went under the hammer in a bid to raise funds to support the Living Hope Foundation’s orphanages in China.
One of the foundation's honorary ambassadors, young Nick Vujicic, encouraged guests to support the evening’s auction just by giving, and the evening’s sale managed to raise close to HK$480,000. The winner bidder of the Hong Kong Tatler/Eurocave Wine Cellar was Dr Calvin Wang.
“The past year has been a wonderful year for the Living Hope Children’s Foundation as we have watched the growth and development of our orphans,” says Philip Chang, ambassador of the Living Hope Children’s Foundation. “The once sad-looking babies with cleft palates, abandoned in front of our orphanage in Heibei, are now happy toddlers who can’t help hiding their sunshine smiles, thanks to their successful corrective surgeries.”
“Another of our orphans, now 10 years old, who has been living with the condition of spinal bifida (split spine) since birth, is now able to run joyfully as a normal kid, after receiving a series of complicated surgical procedures from volunteer doctors in Hong Kong. We simply feel thankful. These and many more wonderful real life stories of our children are also worth celebrating.”
