17 top chefs create a once-in-a lifetime “Cuisine of the World” Banquet
to raise funds for The Community Chest of Hong Kong
Fifty fine-dining restaurants were elected by thirty international and local celebrities in the “Dining With Stars” event held last November. To further promote Hong Kong as a fine-dining capital, Hong Kong Tatler, the organiser of “Dining With Stars”, with the full support of the Hong Kong Tourism Board, has invited top chefs from these 50 fine-dining restaurants to create “Cuisine of the World” – the most sumptuous banquet ever conceived, to raise funds for the Community Chest of Hong Kong.
This unique banquet is a once-in-a-lifetime experience created by expert team of 17 top Hong Kong-based chefs. This “dream team” will oversee every step from menu planning, sourcing of ingredients, venue, cooking and the final presentation. These top chefs represent 24 top-notch restaurants in Hong Kong, covering such different cuisines as Chinese, French, Italian and Japanese. The ingredients used will be sourced to ensure the finest quality. This 13-course menu, which will be a one-of-a-kind fusion of Eastern and Western cuisines. The winning bidder and his or her lucky guests will be treated to white alba truffle (The White Diamond); over 10 species of fresh wild Yunnan mushrooms; wild caribou from Canada; kobe beef from Japan; blue lobster thermidor from France; as well as premium abalone, bird nest, japanese sashimi and Yang Cheng lake hairy crab.
To launch the event, Hong Kong Tatler has commissioned a “Cuisine of the World” theme song, written by Mr Pong Nan and featuring vocals from some of the participating chefs. Renowned fashion designer Mr Dorian Ho has also designed a special uniform for the occasion.
The online bidding price for “Cuisine of the World” starts at US$50,000. Bids can be made at www.hktatler.com/dws/cuisine.html. Net proceeds from the bidding will be donated to The Community Chest of Hong Kong. The winning bidder can select a dining venue from a list of four to celebrate this unforgettable feast with friends and family.
